Grade 3 Mathematics
We will be studying the following units in math: 1. Patterning 2. Numbers to 1000 3. Addition and Subtraction 4. Measurement 5. Fractions 6. Geometry 7. Data Analysis 8. Multiplication and Division Please visit the unit tabs under the "Math" tab above to find a write-up on each unit as well as each unit's objectives. |
Each unit is prepared as a "booklet" with lessons and practice questions that we will work on in class. Math homework (HW) will be sent home each week - please see the "Grade 3 HW" tab for more information.
Each unit will have quizzes and a test at the end. In grade 3, your child is taught how to write a quiz and a test. Quizzes are guided and tests are practiced. Before each unit test, your child will take home a practice test. You will need to assist your child with helping them read the directions of each question in the practice test. In grade 3, students learn how to write a test and this begins with learning to read the directions.
- The practice test looks the SAME as the real test, but the numbers are DIFFERENT.
- By assisting your child with the practice test at home, you are helping them tremendously.
- We will also complete the same practice test in class during the same week it is sent home.
